Estimated Time: 5 mins
Dear Cherokee Village Residents,
Since our August 5 update, we have been working diligently alongside engineers, contractors, and government partners to evaluate the best ways to protect our community from ongoing flooding issues. Our team has been on the ground reviewing conditions, walking the affected areas, and exploring both short-term stabilization efforts and long-term infrastructure improvements. The goal is to provide immediate relief where possible while also building a stronger, more resilient foundation for the future.
- Short-term flood mitigation measures: Engineers and contractors have evaluated and initiated plans to deploy protective infrastructure such as gabion baskets and Hesco baskets, along with other immediate-flow control remedies. We’re exploring every short-term option possible and will update you if/when we move forward with one of the options.
- Ongoing technical assessments: Our Vice President of Construction was on site for several days last week and continues collaborating with engineering professionals to refine both rapid-response and long-term strategies tailored to community needs.
- Collaborative efforts with officials: We remain in close coordination with local and state officials—including representatives from the NRCS, Village of Ruidoso, and the State of New Mexico—to actively advocate for assistance, resources, and funding support.
- Next steps and communication: Some measures are being fast-tracked for implementation, while others require longer-term planning. Rest assured, we remain steadfast in our commitment to protect Cherokee Village and will keep sharing progress. Look for our next update on September 5, and as always, feel free to reach out with any concerns or questions. Thank you for your continued patience, resilience, and trust in this process.
Sincerely,
Dear Cherokee Village Residents,
We want to take a moment to acknowledge the recent flooding that has affected the community, and to let you know that we are working tirelessly to address and resolve the challenges it has caused.
We understand how difficult and stressful these conditions have been, and we want to assure you that your safety and well-being remain our top priorities. Our team has been actively assessing the situation, coordinating with contractors, and implementing immediate solutions where possible.
In conjunction with addressing the impact of the recent flooding, our Vice President of Construction is working closely with a professional engineer to identify practical, long-term improvements that can help prevent future flooding and better protect the community and your homes. We are also continuing to work to engage government leadership at the highest levels — including the Village of Ruidoso, FEMA, and the State of New Mexico — to push for their attention and support where the Ruidoso community is concerned.
While some improvements may take time to fully implement, please know that we are committed to seeing this through and will continue to keep you informed every step of the way. We will be posting regular updates on our progress on the 5th and 20th of each month at: https://endeavorcommunities.com/cherokee-updates.
Thank you for your continued patience, resilience, and understanding. If you have any immediate concerns or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
